Power Electronics Simulation Engineer sought by OPAL-RT Corporation, to work in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Job duties: Solve complex power electronics engineering problems utilizing real-time simulation tools while supporting customer R&D projects utilizing those tools. Create real-time modeling and simulation of complex power electronics converters and systems such as multi-level converters, resonant converters, and MMCs using OPAL-RT tools. Create real-time modeling and simulation of the electrical systems related to renewable energy, power systems and smart grid. Work with clients to understand their requirements and develop solutions utilizing knowledge from our internal R&D experts. Develop simple control algorithms for validating real-time models of the power electronics and power systems. Confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss engineering projects or products. Compile data, write technical reports and deliver presentations. Utilize MATLAB/Simulink; SimPowerSystems (aka Simscape Electrical); FPGA programming for power electronics; phasor-domain simulation tools such as PSS/E or PSLF; and experience working with power electronics hardware and controls in a research lab setting in completing duties and responsibilities.

Requirements include: MS in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field; and 1 year of experience as a Power Electronics Simulation Engineer, or 1 year of experience with simulation of power electronics (academic work experience such as internships and assistantships is accepted); and working knowledge (1 year of work experience or 1 year of academic work experience such as internships and assistantships) with MATLAB/Simulink; SimPowerSystems (aka Simscape Electrical); FPGA programming for power electronics; phasor-domain simulation tools such as PSS/E or PSLF; and experience working with power electronics hardware and controls in a research lab setting. May work remotely a few days a week as schedule allows.

The salary range for this position is between $100,984 and $122,697 per year.  Employer offers benefits including, medical, dental, vision and a 401k savings plan.
