Job Title:  Processing Plant Operator (multiple positions available)

Job Duties:  Move fish products through our production and processing lines according to quality specifications, deadlines, safety standards, and customer needs. Responsible for product movement, sorting, tracking, and rotation of product. Inspect product coming out of various machines to ensure proper removal of waste and inspect that proper cuts are made. Operate equipment, plant machinery, forklifts or pallet jacks. For Evisceration: sort fish according to specification; assure the proper size of fish is loaded into the correct machine; operate hopper carts; monitor quality of cuts and notify supervisor when quality degrades; receive fish in the holding ponds; and follow proper procedures to process all received fish in a safe and efficient manner. For Trimming: inspect and trim fish; remove bones and fat while preserving as much fish as possible; weigh, cut, and fillet fish; work towards reaching established run rates for the assigned stations and lines. For Packaging: fill orders per customer requests; prepare boxes and packaging to meet orders; palletize and stack boxes; package product safely in accordance with quality standards. Assure quality, food safety, and personal safety are observed. Interface with maintenance crew to ensure equipment operations are consistent with product quality standards.  Work with sanitation crew to ensure cleanliness of area equipment and ensure food safety standards are adhered to. Maintain appropriate housekeeping and sanitation procedures within the plant and wash down station regularly and as required. Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service to internal and external customers. Practice hazard awareness, good manufacturing practices, bio-security procedures, safety standards, and general cleanliness and sanitation procedures. Have the ability to speak, understand, and follow directions from supervisor. Work in an indoor environment with exposure to cool and wet environmental conditions. This job involves physical activity such as standing or sitting for periods of time, stooping, pushing/ pulling with upper extremities, and lifting occasionally up to 50 lbs.
