Job Title:  Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems (Tenure-Track)

Work Location: Durango, CO

Job Duties:  Teach Computer Information Systems courses at the undergraduate level within the School of Business Administration, maintaining a 4-3 course load per academic year, including core CIS courses such as IT Security, Network Infrastructure, and Introduction to Data Analysis. Incorporate active learning techniques and real-world applications, including hands-on labs, group projects, and technology integration using platforms like SQL, Tableau, and other data visualization tools. Advise and mentor undergraduate students within the CIS program (and School of Business Administration), supporting their academic and professional development through course planning, internships, and career guidance. Engage in scholarly research in Computer Information Systems, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within the college and community partnerships. Participate in departmental, college, and professional service activities, including committee assignments and community outreach programs. Must hold valid certifications in relevant Computer Information Systems fields, including any of the following: CISSP, CCNA, or AWS.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education Requirement: Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Informatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Employer will accept ABD with expected degree completion by start date.

Other Special Skills or Requirements: Must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching Computer Information Systems courses at the undergraduate level. Demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarly publications or research in Computer Information Systems or related areas. Demonstrated ability to use technology for educational purposes, including working knowledge (6 months’ work experience or 1 post-secondary course using) of either Tableau or SQL, or similar tools. Must hold valid certifications in relevant Computer Information Systems fields, including any of the following: CISSP, CCNA, or AWS.
